Is your High Visibility administration a drain?

Launched in June 2016 is the new  Tyvek® 500 HV coverall from DuPont. The coverall meets the High Visibility (HV) needs of those working in the rail, mining, road maintenance and other hazardous sectors and, as it is a limited-use coverall, it reduces the additional costs of collecting, transporting, laundering and monitoring associated with traditional reusable high visibility workwear.

Commenting on the launch Mrs Chloé Caux-Wetherell, EMEA New Product Leader for DuPont Protection Technologies said, “The introduction of  Tyvek® 500 HV is an important moment as the coverall is an all-in one-solution. It offers those that need to be seen at all times, at night, in bad light and poor weather conditions, not only high visibility protection but also chemical, biological and anti-static protection.”

High visibility clothing is seen as one of the essential building blocks of Personal Protection Equipment across a multitude of markets from waste disposal to port and airport personnel and underground workers. However, the regular laundering of high vis clothing inevitably leads to degradation in the effectiveness of the fluorescent and reflective quality of the garments and thus high vis clothing needs to be monitored to ensure it is up to standard after every five washes. Such a monitoring regime across a large, moveable and ever-changing workforce is enormously complex and requires significant investment – all of which the  Tyvek® 500 HV negates.

Of course the first role of  Tyvek® 500 HV is to ensure that workers are seen at all times and the coverall is compliant to the highest class of the international high visibility norm: EN ISO 20471:2013. For the UK it is also compliant to BS EN ISO 20471:2013.

As with all protective clothing it can only be effective when being used and the ergonomic design of  Tyvek® 500 HV ensures that the coverall is easy to wear. Users benefit from elasticated cuffs and ankles and an elasticated waist as well as plentiful room in the crotch area and a comfortable collar. The coverall is comfortable and thus is easy to wear and to work in.

For end-users who wish to keep their reusable solution,  Tyvek® 500 HV can be used as a first line of defence to protect the reusable item worn underneath. The high-visibility function then only needs to be gained from  Tyvek® 500 HV, which again doesn’t need to be monitored.

“With the launch of  Tyvek® 500 HV” commented Mrs Valérie Pierret, EMEA Marketing Manager at DuPont “we are truly helping to meet the needs of, not only a range of workers who need HV to be protected, but also the businesses they work in through the reduction of the monitoring, administration and cost associated with servicing this specialist clothing.”
