Vehicle Armour – On the Road Protection
In battle, even driving down a road can be life threatening. In the face of RPG’s, EFP’s, snipers and other threats, vehicle armour made with DuPont™ Kevlar® fibre helps to protect our warfighters who are riding in vehicles.
Warfighters are faced with life-and-death challenges whether on foot or on the roads. So the same technology we use in body armor can also be found in the interior of military ground vehicles and helicopters. DuPont™ Kevlar® technology is helping the military address the need for strong, lightweight, reliable, flame and heat resistant armor systems and spall protection for a range of vehicles, ships, airplanes and helicopters.
Lightweight armour systems made with DuPont™ Kevlar® fibre help optimize the essential properties needed for effective advanced ballistic protection, such as providing multi-hit protection, maintaining ballistic capability through a variety of conditions, and superior durability.
We are constantly looking for new ways to support a warrior’s mission. By working with military protective gear companies, we help them as they develop solutions with Kevlar® fibre and unidirectional laminates containing Kevlar® fibre to be a part of the vehicle armour solution for combat and tactical vehicles. Our advanced armour systems help offer the protection warriors need to focus on the fight without penalizing soldier survivability and vehicle performance. It’s one of the ways we can help make the road towards home safer.
Uses and Applications
While synonymous with personal body armour, DuPont™ Kevlar® fibre is found in many applications for vehicle armour protection. MRAP vehicles made using Kevlar® fibres help protect soldiers who are involved in IED and RPG attacks.
Fuel Hose & Tubing Solutions
Products from DuPont, including DuPont™ Viton®, DuPont™ Teflon®, DuPont™ Kevlar®, and DuPont™ Hypalon®, help improve F200 fuel hose and tubing performance, for proven gains in permeation resistance in automobiles.
