Planters in the Mumbai Airport Use Corian® to Refresh Space
When Mumbai Airport was looking to design the interiors at the new 1C terminal, the Hafeez Contractor Associates, one of the most renowned architectural groups of India, wanted to use planters to divide the space into functional zones and form important centers of focus for passengers, all while giving the entire space a refreshing and a contemporary feel.
The biggest obstacle for the designers was to find a solid surface material that could be used for planters to segregate the public
and corporate spaces effectively without diluting the architectural aesthetics. The idea required materials that can both convey the
right image and withstand the wear and tear that comes with heavy daily traffic.
DuPont™ Corian® solid surface was used to create planters in an application area that was spread across 6,500 sq. ft. on three floors, had six aerobridges, and a seating capacity for 1000 passengers at a given point of time.
With so many colours and capabilities, Corian® is perfect for facilitating a signature aesthetic style in both vertical and horizontal applications, including partitions that divide functional and corporate spaces. Corian® is stain resistant, durable, renewable and requires little maintenance, making it ideal for withstanding daily workplace traffic. With its seamless, homogenous look and solid feel, Corian® has the substance to create impressive, large-scale designs.
